Choose the buyer before choosing the channel
Start with the projects you want more of: their scope, location, delivery model and the people who make the decision. A website built around every possible job makes it harder for a good prospect to recognise a fit.
| Your business | What the buyer needs to assess | What the website should help them do |
|---|---|---|
| Residential builders and renovators | Relevant project types, approach, service area, communication and the experience of working with the team. | See comparable completed work and enquire with the project location, stage, intended scope and timing. |
| Commercial builders and fitout contractors | Experience with a similar building type, your role, live-site constraints, programme and the people responsible. | Assess suitability, view a capability statement and speak with the right person about the brief. |
| Specialist construction subcontractors | Your trade package, capacity, project experience and current credentials relevant to that work. | Send a clear package enquiry with the project, scope and required response date. |
Roads, earthworks, utilities and infrastructure have a different buying context. See our civil construction marketing page for capability, project and tender-led communication.
A construction website should do more than display a gallery
Show what each project demonstrates. Alongside photographs, explain the scope, the type of client, your role and the constraint you managed. Only use client names, photographs and outcomes you have permission to publish. A finished image on its own rarely tells a buyer whether you can handle their job.
- Make the service clear. Separate new builds, renovations, fitouts or specialist packages where the buyer needs different information.
- Make fit easy to judge. State the areas you actually serve and explain the project types you take on.
- Make the next step useful. Ask for enough project detail to route the enquiry. Do not make someone complete a tender submission just to start a conversation.
- Make follow-up dependable. Send enquiries to the person and system responsible for responding, with a clear acknowledgement.
Our website design and development work can include project pages, enquiry forms, quote or quiz paths and CRM integration, with the scope agreed before the build.
What ORYX can bring together
We can start with one defined project or connect the pieces: positioning and identity, a website, a capability statement, project photography and film, content and enquiry follow-up. The brand, website and sales material should describe the same business.
You work directly with the partners. Dan Hardy is a civil engineer who moved into business development and has advised engineering and manufacturing businesses. Emile de la Rey brings a commercial background in property development and business valuation. We use that experience to ask better questions; your own delivery team supplies and checks the technical facts.
Before we scope the work
- Identify two or three project types you want to win, and the ones you do not.
- Bring examples you are allowed to discuss, including your role and available photography.
- List the questions buyers ask before they will meet you or request a quote.
- Explain how enquiries reach the team, who follows up and where good prospects get lost.
That gives us a basis for agreeing the pages, proof and systems you need. We set a fixed scope and price before work starts. See all ORYX services.
Construction businesses across Australia
We work with owners across Australia, including the Gold Coast and wider Queensland. Planning and review can happen remotely. Photography and film shoot days include travel within South East Queensland; other locations are quoted first.
Common questions
Is construction marketing the same as civil construction marketing?
They overlap, but the buyers and decisions differ. A homeowner choosing a renovator needs different guidance from a head contractor assessing an infrastructure subcontractor. We agree the buyer, project type and evidence before planning the website or campaign.
Can you improve our existing website?
Yes. We offer website builds and remodels. We first assess the content, enquiry journey and existing technology, then agree what can be retained and what needs to change.
Do you guarantee construction leads or tender wins?
No. Marketing can make your capability easier to find and assess. The result also depends on your offer, market, capacity, response and delivery. We agree what to measure without promising a ranking, lead count or contract.
Can we start with a website or capability statement?
Yes. A focused project can stand on its own. We agree the deliverables and price before work starts, and connect it to the rest of your brand and sales material.
