What a capability statement is for
A capability statement is the document a tender panel, head contractor or procurement team opens to decide whether you are worth pricing. It has to show, quickly, who you are, what you do, what you have delivered and why you are a safe choice. A good one gets you on the list. A thin or dated one counts against you before the price is read.
What is in an ORYX capability statement
- Your story, in plain words
- Directors and leadership
- Services and the work you specialise in
- Projects, with scope and outcomes
- Plant and workforce capacity
- Certifications and prequalifications
- Community outcomes
We write it and design it. You get print-ready files and a digital version with live links.
Written alongside your website
The statement and the website are built to mirror each other in style, content, projects and people. A client who reads the document and then looks you up sees the same business, which is where a lot of tenders are quietly won or lost.
Related documents
- Group capability statement. For a parent company with sister companies: pages for the parent, a page for each company, and a QR code on every page that opens that company’s own site and statement.
- Tender response template. A reusable framework mapped to the criteria you answer most often, plus a copy bank to draw on for tenders and proposals.
- Photography. A photography day across your sites, plant and crews, so the statement shows your real people and real work.
Why ORYX
Dan Hardy, ORYX partner, is a civil engineer who has spent years advising engineering and manufacturing companies on winning work. We know what a panel looks for because we come from the industry, and we work with the Civil Contractors Federation Queensland. A capability statement does not guarantee a tender result, but it should never be the reason you miss the shortlist.
How to start

Common questions
What should a capability statement include?
Who you are, what you do, the projects you have delivered, the people who lead the business, your plant and workforce capacity, and your certifications and prequalifications. Keep it specific to the work you want to win.
How long should a capability statement be?
Long enough to prove capability and short enough to be read. Ours run up to sixteen pages. A one or two page summary can be cut from the same content for introductions.
Do you write the capability statement or just design it?
Both. We write the content with you and design the document, so the words and the layout work together.
Can you do a capability statement for a group of companies?
Yes. A group capability statement covers the parent and each sister company in one master document, with links to each company’s own site and statement.
How much does a capability statement cost?
It is a fixed price agreed before work starts. Ask for the rate card on a call and we will send it.
